Privacy Policy
1) Who we are (Controller)
Bestpricevalue.com (“Bestpricevalue”, “we”, “us”) is a Home Improvement Agency. We help UK homeowners understand market-average price ranges for windows, doors, bifolds and related works and—when asked—match them with vetted installers for quotations.
If you have any questions about this policy or your data rights, contact us at the address below.
2) What this policy covers
This policy explains how we collect and use personal data when you:
browse bestpricevalue.com and use our tools (e.g. Double Glazing Cost Calculator and other calculators);
email or share an estimate from the site; and/or
ask us to introduce you to vetted installer partners for quotes.
It also covers analytics and session recordings we use to improve the site (e.g. Hotjar) and our cookie/consent framework (Complianz).
3) What data we collect
A) Data you provide to us
Calculator inputs – product type, sizes, materials, glazing/options, installation toggle, basket contents.
Contact details – name, email, phone, postcode/area (when you email your summary or request quotes).
Preferences – remote or home visit, priorities (price, certification, timing), free-text notes.
Finance inputs (illustrative only) – deposit, APR, term (we do not run credit checks).
B) Data created for you
Share-link snapshots – when you click Share link, we save a read-only copy of your estimate to a unique public URL so anyone with the link can view/print it.
Local storage in your browser – we save your basket and region to help you return later (this is localStorage, not a cookie).
C) Data collected automatically
Technical/usage – pages viewed, clicks/scroll depth, device & browser, approximate location (country/region), UTM/source, session duration, IP address (truncated or pseudonymised where possible).
Security/anti-spam – Google reCAPTCHA may collect device & usage data to detect bots.
Consent records – your cookie choices via Complianz.
We do not collect special-category data and our services are intended for people aged 16+.
4) Why we use your data (purposes & lawful bases)
| Purpose | Examples | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Provide calculators & estimates | Generate postcode-aware price ranges; show illustrative finance figures; maintain basket | Legitimate interests in operating the service and/or contract when you request it |
| Email your estimate | Send a summary to your email address | Consent (you request the email) |
| Create share links | Store a snapshot so a public link can display your estimate | Legitimate interests (a feature you chose) |

| Customer support & service messages | Respond to queries; service notices | Legitimate interests / contract |
| Analytics & UX improvement | Google Analytics, Hotjar heatmaps/session replays | Consent where required by PECR and/or legitimate interests in improving UX |
| Security & abuse prevention | reCAPTCHA; fraud/threat detection; logs | Legitimate interests / legal obligation |
| Legal & compliance | Tax/audit logs; handling complaints and claims | Legal obligation / legitimate interests |
Finance note: any finance figures shown in calculators are illustrative only and do not constitute credit broking or an offer of credit. We are not a lender or a credit broker.
5) How we make money & when we share your details
Using a calculator alone: we do not share your personal data with installers.
If you ask us to get quotes: we share your name, contact details, postcode/area and relevant project information (products, sizes, preferences) with up to 2–5 vetted installer partners so they can contact you about your project. We may receive a referral fee/commission if you proceed. This does not increase the price you pay.
We do not sell personal data for unrelated marketing.
Partners act as independent controllers for their own processing and should seek consent for any of their marketing.
Retention for lead matching: we keep lead records for up to 24 months from last activity to manage enquiries, reporting and disputes, then minimise or delete unless law requires longer.
6) Analytics, heatmaps & recordings (Hotjar)
We use Hotjar to understand how visitors use the site. Hotjar records usage signals (mouse movements, clicks, scrolls), basic device info and pages viewed. We mask/disable fields that may contain personal data and do not record keystrokes. Hotjar acts as our processor.
Opt-in/out: via our cookie banner (Complianz) and/or your browser’s Do Not Track.
Retention: replays/heatmaps are kept for a limited period, typically ≤12 months, then deleted.
We also use Google Analytics for aggregated statistics and Google reCAPTCHA for form abuse prevention. See our Cookies Policy for cookie names and lifetimes.
7) Share links & emailed summaries
Emailed summaries go only to the address you provide and include a snapshot of your estimate.
Share links are public URLs; treat them like a file you can share.
Share-link snapshots are retained for up to 12 months (or earlier if purged for security/storage reasons).
8) Who else processes data for us (processors/recipients)
We use trusted providers acting under our instructions (unless noted otherwise):
Website hosting & CDN – cloud hosting, backups and security.
Email delivery – transactional email (estimate summaries, service notices).
Analytics/UX – Google Analytics; Hotjar (processor).
Consent management – Complianz (cookie banner and records).
Security – Google reCAPTCHA.
Lead routing/CRM – tools used to route introductions to vetted partners.
Installer partners – independent controllers only when you ask us to get quotes.
We only disclose data to authorities where the law requires.
9) International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, we rely on an adequacy decision or put in place appropriate safeguards (e.g. the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or EU Standard Contractual Clauses) plus supplementary measures where necessary.
10) How long we keep your data
| Category | Typical retention |
|---|---|
| Share-link snapshots | 12 months |
| Email summary logs (delivery diagnostics) | 6 months |
| Lead/quote-matching records | Up to 24 months from last activity |
| General enquiries/support | Up to 18–24 months |
| Analytics data | 2–14 months (tool settings) |
| Server backups | Up to 90 days (rolling) |
| Local storage (your browser) | Until you clear it |
We may retain minimal suppression records (e.g. “do not contact”) to honour preferences, and longer where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
11) Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (this won’t affect past processing).
To exercise your rights, email info@bestpricevalue.com. We may need to verify your identity.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF — ico.org.uk — 0303 123 1113.
12) Children
Our services are intended for adults (16+). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
13) Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect data, including HTTPS/TLS, access controls, least-privilege, monitoring, encryption at rest where supported by our providers, data minimisation and regular reviews of subprocessors. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
14) Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies and similar tech for essential site features, analytics, security and remembering preferences. Full details (including Hotjar/GA cookie names, purposes and lifetimes) are in our Cookies Policy and controlled via our Complianz banner. You can update consent at any time.
